Master Sealcoaters Rocco & Chris

Hi. My name is Chris McMorrow.

Cherokee Sealcoating Co. is NOT the Biggest Sealcoating Company On Long Island…and Probably Won’t Ever Be!

You know, some people equate being the biggest with being the best. But the fact is, nothing could be further from the truth! That idea may be accurate when applied to huge patent-holding companies that dominate certain industries, but NOT to local service companies… and especially not to asphalt sealcoating companies.

In this business, to win the title of “biggest”, the criterion would have to be volume.

And what that means is…  3 or 4 crews going out daily… each working from sunup to sunset… going non-stop… and…

Sealing driveways like there’s no tomorrow!

Sure, a sealcoat company will make a LOT of money that way… but… there’s a HUGE tradeoff - one we at Cherokee Sealcoating Co. are not willing to make: QUALITY!

Listen, we’re not thrilled about doing prep work, and no sealcoat company is. In truth, we don’t like doing it. Takes a lot of time to get right. It can be a real pain in the neck.

But the fact remains: If the job is going to be done right, seven times out of ten (even if it’s relatively new pavement) some kind of preparatory work should be accomplished.

Good “prep” work takes time… time the big volume boys can’t (and won’t) spend.

(Not if you’re handed a list of seven… nine… or ten jobs to do… and you’d better get ‘em done… or else!)

And because doing the job right takes time, you can forget about us ever being the biggest.

See, at Cherokee Sealcoating Co., our company’s motto, the credo we STRIVE to uphold… day in and day out… is …

“Where Quality Is The Priority!”

That’s our very simple motto, and each man is required to live by it.

We Won’t Seal Over Mud, Moss, Dirt,
or Gaping Inch-Wide Cracks!

It’s been our experience that just about every driveway has its own particular major or minor problems. There might be mounds of moss growing on areas with heavy shade – the stuff has to be scraped off by hand.

There may be dozens of minor surface cracks jam-packed with dirt and mud – each one has to be wire brushed by hand and then blown out.

There could be minor pot holes or cracks which, though may look harmless enough, are actually what we call core cracks – the bad ones that go down to the base of the driveway, undermine your pavement’s subgrade, and cause your driveway to start breaking apart when temperatures fall into the twenties.

Each one of these problems MUST be addressed before a contractor applies the sealant.

FAILURE TO DO SO MEANS THROWING YOUR HARD-EARNED MONEY RIGHT OUT THE WINDOW!!!

For example, What is the point of sealing over core cracks that fill up with rain water which then freezes and expands when it’s bitter cold?

Big cracks have to be cleaned out (by hand) and plugged with a hot tar highway grade crack filler.

What is the point of sealing over a 3 foot wide untreated oil spot - the kind that will eventually eat through your pavement and eventually require expensive patchwork? It has to be degreased… then primed… then sealed.

Would you paint an old house before first scraping off the old paint? Would you sealcoat a driveway before first making sure that all the dirt and mud were scraped off it?

These are but three examples.

Our Basic Business Philosophy...

It is NOT our intention to waste your hard-earned money in order to line our own pockets. Our very simple mission is to give you a perfect... or as near a perfect a job as humanly possible … at a very fair price.

(We don’t claim to be the cheapest, but one homeowner from Locust valley was shocked to learn that our price was less than 2/3rd’s of a competitors. We got the job, and she was absolutely delighted with our work. Believe me, we’re not looking to gouge anyone.)

So why is it our goal to make certain that you get the best deal (defined by the right combination of price and superior, uncompromising quality), even though we can’t make as much money as our big volume competitors?

Three reasons: First, we can’t help it. We’re absolute fanatics about quality.

Second, in the long run, it pays. We know you’ll feel confident in recommending us to neighbors, friends and relatives.

Third (the most important reason of all), we’d like to earn the privilege of having you become one of our lifetime customers. Two… three… maybe four years from now… your driveway will need sealing or maintenance again. We would like to be the ones who do it.

That won’t happen unless you are absolutely delighted with  our work and the way we do business.

Finally, we like to sleep at night. We don’t like the inside of court rooms, and the only time we’ve ever seen one was to pay a traffic ticket.

If you’re happy, we’re happy. BUT… if you’re not happy, we’re miserable.

For Homeowners With “Picture Perfect” Driveways...

First, a simple definition: “Picture Perfect” basically means new pavement. And “new” means less than two years old. According to the Asphalt Institute,  new pavement should to be sealed no longer than one year after curing time.

EZ Paving is one of the best paving companies on the North Shore. (Don’t call them unless your driveway is a minimum of 5000 square feet.) Why? Because their finished jobs always wind up looking like “black ice”.

That means a rock-solid 2-inch asphalt base that’s as smooth and level as the top of a Brunswick pool table. Takes a heck of a crew and very heavy rollers to achieve their standards.

WE HAD THE PRIVILEGE OF DOING ALL THEIR SEALING! You couldn’t have asked for better endorsement than Adam Belsky from EZ Paving. (Alas, Adam, after a lifetime of superior paving – his company built solely on word of mouth advertising – has pulled stakes and retired down south.)

My point? Just this: Don’t let anyone get away with messing up your new Belgian blocks… or fail to deliver a beautiful, smooth finish. Make sure that all-important first seal is done right.

We Don’t Run From Our Work… We Stand By It!

The final facts: When you come right down to it, conscientious homeowners like you sealcoat their asphalt driveways for only one reason: BECAUSE IT WORKS! Studies prove that periodic sealcoating and crack repair will save you thousands of dollars over the life of your driveway. Why go with Cherokee Sealcoating Co.? The reason is simple. We’re specialists. Good sealcoating is an art and it’s the only thing we do.

Plus, we back up all our work with Long Island’s strongest, simplest, most straightforward guarantee. Here it is:

“You Must Be Absolutely Delighted With Our Work Or You Don’t Pay A Penny!”

You heard me right. Not one red cent. Heck, that’s even better than a money back guarantee. But there’s more. We also guarantee all our work for one full year! No other Long Island sealcoating company offers a guarantee like that. The strength of our guarantee simply reflects the absolute confidence we have in the quality of our materials and work.

Look, sealcoating is NOT an easy business. It’s seasonal, weather-driven, and hard on your back. Those 5-gallon buckets weigh fifty pounds each… and lugging around 60lb. asphalt patch bags is not my idea of a “workout.”

The sun and the sealant both combine to burn your skin.  By 6 o’clock, I usually look like a boiled lobster.

But… when the day is done… and the work is finished… there’s nothing like the taste of a cold, well-earned can of Schlitz (possibly the best beer in America, when you can find it!)… or Pabst Blue Ribbon (cheap but good).

You know, as hard as this business is, I don’t have to wear a suit, and I get to meet a lot of really fine people. And so I hope to have the privilege of meeting YOU.

But please, don’t put it off any longer! If you do, it’ll probably NEVER get done. Prices will continue to climb (though it’s still a terrific bargain, VelveTop has actually doubled it’s prices in the last 6 years), and you won’t get the substantial benefits that come with sealing your driveway.

Plus, if Cherokee Sealcoating Co. doesn’t do the job, you’re NOT going to get the level of quality and service you’ve both earned and deserve. (Not even close.) So I strongly urge you to call me today, or simply use the form to request your free estimate.

Best Wishes,

Chris
